Christmas is right around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about Christmas gifts for our loved ones. Some of us also take part in Secret Santa’s at work or school. On this occasion, I had the opportunity to cooperate withJolie Beauty, which offered me a test of one of their glitter eyeshadow palettes. According to them, the Bomb Dot Com palette will be perfect as a gift, but also for ourselves if we like glitter make-up, which is great not only for New Year’s Eve but also during the festive season!
Jolie Beauty – The Brand
Jolie Beauty is an independent beauty company based in the United Kingdom, more specifically in Birmingham. Their crew mainly consists of experienced make-up artists who previously worked for brands such as Mac and Estee Lauder. As per assumption, their products are supposed to be perfect and affordable for both professional make-up artists and beginner make-up lovers.
On the website, they assure us that they are 100% cruelty-free, do not test on animals, and try to create vegan cosmetics as much as possible. Moreover, they regularly donate money to animal charities. Their store offers both face and eye make-up cosmetics, as well as various accessories.
Jolie Beauty – ‘Bomb Dot Com’ Palette
The ‘Bomb Dot Com’ palette consists only of pressed glitters. We can find twenty-four shades in it – various types of reds, pinks, blues, greens, and many others. They are in a beautiful gold box that also has a mirror, which in my opinion is a small plus. The manufacturer assures us that the glitter is 100% eye and face friendly, but it can also be used all over the body. They also promise us great durability of make-up, especially if we combine shadows with some glitter primer and a fixing mist. How does it look like in practice though?
Jolie Beauty – ‘Bomb Dot Com’ Opinion
I would be lying if I said that I often use glitter in my make-up. Therefore, I had the opportunity to check whether it is actually adapted to beginners. Because although make-up is in some ways my passion and every day I learn something new, when I picked up NYX Glitter Primer and then this palette, I didn’t know where to start. I have to admit that the pigmentation is quite good. However, you need to apply them with your fingers, not with brushes. I made this mistake – unconsciously at first, and later because my nails are too long. However, after removing the makeup from the photo, I applied id with my finger, and wow, the effect is much better! Brushes, unfortunately, keep the glitter on them and do not transfer it well to the eyelid.
I applied the glitter to my entire eeyelid, but while wearing makeup, it moved around and it was flaking off slightly (which may be due to the fact that I did not use a fixing mist). In addition, it rubbed off a little from the inside of the eye.
Another plus side, in addition to pigmentation, is the set of colours here, because I think that every fan of glitter and colorful make-up will find something for themselves here.
So do I recommend this palette? If you are a beginner – probably not. On the other hand, for people who have dealt with glitter a little more and know how to use it – definitely yes.
Will I come back to it? Yes, but I will definitely not use it for everyday makeup. Although I like some glimmer even in everyday makeup, I prefer to choose a slightly safer option for now. However, for artistic makeup or for nights out – definitely.
I will also gladly come back and test other products of this brand. Their matte palettes look just as good, and I am also interested in their face cosmetics.
Have you ever heard of this brand? Have you had the opportunity to test any of their products?
